Final rites were held Tuesday at 10;30 a m from the Guthrie Center United Methodist Church for Mrs. Florence Beardsley. A native of Guthrie County, she had lived her entire life here.
Daughter of Fred and Amy Moreland, she was born January 27, 1893, and on Christmas Day in 1913 she was married to Emmett Beardsley.
They farmed near Guthrie Center and after his death in 1970, Mrs. Beardsley moved to the New Homestead in Guthrie Center and she died in the Guthrie County hospital Sunday.
She was baptized as a child and later became an active member of the WCTU.
Surviving are daughters, Mrs. Frank (Amy) Smith, Bayard; Irene Alexander, Des Moines; Mrs. Howard (Neva June) Earp, Raleigh, North Carolina, and Mrs. Max (Florence Louise) Titus, Clarion. Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. Ottis (Ruth) Leib of Guthrie Center and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Carl (Elzina) Hayes who lived with the Beardsley, nine grandchildren and 15 greatgrandchildren. Besides her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Myrtle, and an infant daughter, Myra Beth.
The funeral service was in charge of Rev Jerry Palmer, pastor of the First Christian Church in Guthrie Center. Organist was Mrs. Jack Coffman and Darwin Jorgensen was soloist. The casket was carried by Roger and Clifford Lieb, Lyle Kalleson, Hubert Stewart, Max Uhlman and Lester Jorgensen. Interment was made in the Union Cemetery at Guthrie Center.
