Funeral services for Mrs. Elvis J. Maynard, sr, will be held Friday at 2 p m from the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Guthrie Center. The 80-year- old native of Racine, Wisconsin, died Tuesday evening in the Guthrie County hospital where she had been a patient about ten days following a stroke.
Officiating at the service will be Rev. Ronald Goodsman and vocalist will be Mrs. Lester Jorgensen and Mrs. Willard Ritchie. The organist will be Mrs. Melvin Short. The casket will be carried by Tom Smith, Rick Millhollin, Joel Clark, Floyd Robinson, Wayne Hagamann and Dwight Sharp. Interment will be made in the Highland Cemetery.
Born Louise Johana Larsen October 1, 1893, in Racine, Mrs. Maynard has lived in Guthrie County all of her married life. They farmed south of Bayard until retiring several years ago. Since that time the family has lived in Guthrie Center.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Maynard is survived by a son Elvis, jr, and daughters Mrs. Don (Eunice) Whitney, Mrs. Veryl (Lois) Paullin, and Mrs. Sam (Ayleen) Smith. All are from Guthrie Center. There are eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Thorvold Thompson of Racine, also surviving, as well as a large number of nieces and nephews.
