Funeral services for Charles Budd McCartney, a longtime former resident of Bayard, were held Saturday at 10 a m from the Timeon Funeral Chapel in Woodward. The Rev Charles Miller officiated and interment was made in the Highland Cemetery at Bayard.
A resident of Woodward for the last 25 years, Mr. McCartney was sitting at home when he was stricken with an apparent heat attack and died instantly.
Born November 30, 1889, at Bear Grove, he married Ethel Carrick in Bayard February 12, 1913. After retiring from farming the McCartney's moved to Woodward where Mr. McCartney served as a LPN at the Woodward State Hospital School. He retired from that job several years ago.
Mr. McCartney was a member of the Bayard Methodist Church and was a 60 year member of the IOOF Lodge at Bagley. Members of the lodge served as casket bearers.
He is survived by his widow and sons; Otis of San Jose, Calif, and Earl Lynne of Davenport. Also surviving are three grandchildren, five great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
