Bernard L Ellis 67, died Thursday, October 18, in the Green County hospital. He was a life long resident of Jamaica.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a m October 20 from the Union Church in Jamaica. The Rev Vincent L. James, pastor of the church, officiated. Mrs. John W. Crabb was organist.
Honorary casket bearers were Jack Newberry, Jerry Kindhart, Billy Joe Knowles, Gale Whiton, Richard Walker and Steve Hall.
Bernard L. Ellis son of Charles and Edith Smith Ellis, was born December 6, 1905, in Jamaica and lived his entire life there. He was a painter by trade and for the past 42 1/2 years drove a Jamaica school bus.
October 30, 1926 Bernard was united in marriage with Alice Smith.
Mr. Ellis was a member of Ensign Lodge 585 A F & A M and Eastern Star Chapter 399, both of Jamaica.
Bernard passed away Thursday, October 18, in the Green County Medical Center in Jefferson at the age of 67. He was preceded in death by his father and three brothers, Delbert, Ward and Donald.
His survivors include his wife, Alice; his mother, Mrs. Edith Walker of Jamaica; two brothers, Leo of Jamaica and Everett of Wayzata, Minn; a sister, Mrs. Richard (Verla Jean) Ridnour of Berkley; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
