The Bayard News Feb 15, 1973

James Arley Luckinbill, known as Arley to all his friends, neighbors and relatives, was born in Orange township in Guthrie County November 17, 1898, to Emma Pierce and William Luckinbill.
After the death of his mother, his maternal grandparents reared him on the farm that has been his home for the last 32 years.
January 15, 1919 he was united in marriage to Nellie Marlow at the Methodist Parsonage in Guthrie Center. To this union were born six children: Estel, who passed away in his infancy; Anita Anderson of Canton, SD; Betty Betts of Indianola; Walter of Branson, Missouri; George of Menlo and Robert of Avondale, Arizona.
Arley will be remembered by all as a good neighbor and a loving husband and father. He was a great admirer of God's creation and was an avid gardner. During the last 20 years Mr. and Mrs. Luckinbill had spent most winters in Florida. He spent many hours hunting and fishing with family and friends where he felt the closest to God.
Mr. Luckinbill had been in poor health for some time and four years ago developed leukemia. However, it was only the last few months that he was unable to live a fairly normal, active life. The last month was spent in Iowa Methodist hospital in Des Moines where he entered into rest on February 5, 1973, having attained the age of 74 years, two months and 18 days.
In addition to his wife, Nellie, and his children, Arley is also survived by 29 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, tow sisters, Mrs. Mae Shafer of Linn Creek, Missouri, and Mrs. Odessa Winebrenner of Burton, Washington. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Thursday, February 8, at 2 pm from the United Methodist Church in Guthrie Center with the Rev Milton Kinney officiating.
Interment was in the Wichita cemetery in Guthrie county with Glen Covault, Earl Moore, George Rasmussen, Wayne Vonnehme, Charles Benton and Lester Peckumn serving as casket bearers.
