Funeral services for Charles "Chuck" Evans, 62 of Coon Rapids were held Monday at 10 am from the United Methodist Church in Coon Rapids. The pastor, Rev Alfred E. Rau, officiated. Organist was Pat Schwartz and interment was made in the Orange Township cemetery.
The casket was carried by Arnold Dodson, Nick Olesen, Bill Davis, Lyle Knight, Ray Reiling and Chet Sargent.
A victim of cancer, Mr. Evans had spent several weeks in an Omaha hospital but for the last few days he was in the St Anthony hospital in Carroll where he died Saturday morning.
Charles "Chuck" Evans, son of James and Irene Dyer Evans, was born April 8, 1915, near Bouton. At the age of one year he moved with his family to a farm near Mitchell, S.D, where he later attended the schools near his home. He was united in marriage with Grace Nelson on August 24, 1932, and a short time later they moved to a farm near Coon Rapids.
They moved into Coon Rapids about 25 years ago where Chuck was employed in construction work. He had been active in his work up until about two and one-half months ago when failing health caused him to quit working. He entered St Anthony hospital in Carroll a week ago where he died Saturday, July 30, at the age of 62 years, three months and 22 days.
He was preceded in death by his father and a nephew.
He is survived by his wife, Grace, two daughters, Beverly (Mrs. Don) Augustus, Papilion, Nebr. and Charlene (Mrs. Joe) Fitzgerald, Corpus Christi, Texas; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren, his mother Mrs. Irene Evens, Bellvue, Nebr. and the following brothers and sisters, Gomer Evans, Ames; Adeliene (Mrs. Merle C.) Shawd, Bayard; Jim Evans, Waterloo, and Rochelle (Mrs. Don) Herring, Bellvue, Nebr. as well as many other relatives and friends.
