Funeral services for Willa Belle Mingus, 53, were held Thursday, August 11, from the Grace United Methodist Church in Spencer. The 2 pm service was officiated by Rev Lawrence Hartley. The wife of former Bagley resident, Robert J. Mingus, she died in the Spencer hospital August 9.
After their marriage, the family lived near Bagley for four years. They lived at Council Bluffs for 17 years prior to moving to Spencer in 1967. In 1973 they moved to Gillet Grove where they lived at the time of her death.
Besides her husband, she is survived by a son, Jim Mingus of Spencer, daughters Gayla (Mrs. Jim) Johnson, Council Bluffs; Laura (Mrs. Bob) Huffman, Council Bluffs, and Joanne Mingus, Gillett Grove.
There are six grandchildren.
Cousins attending the service included Mrs. Grace Mingus, Yale; Mrs. Genevieve Lamb, Jefferson; Mrs. Ramona Headlee, Guthrie Center; Mr. and Mrs. Howard Fell and Gary, Bayard, and Mrs. Terry Clark and Mr. and Mrs. Roger Zeller, Bagley, Also, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Shea and Jennifer of Downers Grove, Ill, were there. Berry Shea is a sister of Bob Mingus, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Allen of Bagley who lived on the old Mingus farm attended.
Tumor of the brain was given as the cause of her death. She willed her body to the University of Iowa Medical School.
