Lucile Frances Boots, a native of Bayard who was born here January 12, 1915, died in California August 20. Her remains were brought to Bayard for interment at the Highland cemetery. A short graveside service was conducted by LeRoy Guernsey, minister at the Bayard Church of Christ, at 11 a m Tuesday.
Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Boots, she moved with her parents to California in 1923. She lived at 1381 North Catalina in Pasadena. Miss Boots dedicated her life to education. She earned her bachelors degree from the University of California at Los Angeles. Later she attended the University of Southern California at Pasadena where she received a masters degree. She taught school in the Arcadia, California, schools until her retirement seven years ago.
She was a life member of the California retired Teacher's Association. Lucile was a member of the Education Alumnae Association of the University of Southern California. She was also a member of Phi Delta Gamma at the USC, a national fraternity for graduate women.
Among her special interest, Lucile was active in the Writer's Club of Pasadena and had been awarded prizes for her writing, mainly poetry. She was also an active member for many years in the Alamo Chapter 289 of the Order of the Eastern Star of Brawley, California.
She is survived by her mother, Mrs. Dennis (Belva) Boots of Pasadena; an aunt, Mrs. Troy (Flossie) Hawkins, Bayard, and an uncle, Floyd Hughes, Council Bluffs.
Attending the graveside rites were Floyd Hughes Sr; Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Hughes, Jr, and their son, Dwight Hughes, and daughter, Mrs. Mary Filkins, all of Council Bluffs.
