Funeral services for Margarette Ethel Ritchie 66 of Coon Rapids were held at 11 am Monday at the United Methodist Church in Coon Rapids. The Rev Alfred Rau officiated.
Music was provided by Mr. and Mrs. Sam Cretsinger, vocalist, and Lula Garnes, organist. Interment was in the Coon Rapids Cemetery.
The casket was carried by Gary and Dennis Ritchie, David and Leslie Blanchard, Clair Kraft and Leonard Whitten.
Miss Ritchie, daughter of David and Grace Lamb Ritchie, was born May 3, 1911, on her parents homestead near Powell, Wyo. She died Friday, August 26, in Carroll.
She graduated from Bayard high school in 1930 and continued her education in Des Moines at Mercy Hospital where she graduated from the school of nursing in 1933. She was employed at Boone County Hospital, Boone, when she entered the service.
Miss Ritchie entered the service on January 31, 1941, as a second lieutenant. She served her country in Little Rock, Ark, and later in the Aleutian Islands. After her discharge on July 5, 1946, she went to San Diego, Calif. to work in a doctor's office. She later moved to Kalexico, Calif, where she worked in a hospital until her retirement last September. She made her home in Coon Rapids with her sister, Mrs. DeLane Blanchard. She is survived by the following brothers and sisters; Laurence of Minneapolis, Minn.; Frank of Brookings, S. D.; George of Dedham; Mrs. Neil (Jennie) Whitten of Glidden; Mrs. Alva (Edna) Palmer, Mrs. Wayne (Ava) Accola and Mrs. DeLane (Dorothy) Blanchard, all of Coon Rapids. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
