A committal service as held at the highland Cemetery Monday afternoon for Mrs. Bertha Russell, 88 of Perry. Widow of George Russell, she died August 25 at the Perry Manor where she had been a resident for some time.
The funeral services were held Monday at 2 pm from the First Baptist Church in Perry where Mrs. Russel held membership. The Rev Dr. Lawrence George, Pastor, officiated and music was furnished by Jim Collins soloist, and Mrs. Roy Bueltelt, organist. the casket was carried by Glenn Roush, Lewis Dorman, Jim Collins, Merle Blake, Kenneth Netherton and David Lord.
Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E E Hunter, Mrs. Russell was born April 13, 1889 at Dedham. She spent her early life in Coon Rapids. On April 26, 1905, she married George C. Russell in Guthrie Center and the couple lived in Bayard.
She is survived by a son, John C. Russell, Perry, daughters, Lucy (Mrs. John) Rion, Perry, and Eunice (Mrs. Harold) Hockett, Madrid, two sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, five grandchildren 10 great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren.
