"George A. Peters, lifelong resident of the Bagley community, died at his home here Sunday after a lingering illness. Services were held for Mr. Peters from the Methodist church Wednesday afternoon with Rev. Donald Bissinger and the Rev. Homer Cole in charge. Interment was in the Dodge cemetery. Music was furnished by a quartette composed of Mrs. Ray Corsault, Mrs. Lyle Smith, William Flower and George Irwin. Mrs. Ray Klinzman accompanied them at the piano. George Alvin Peters, son of George and Emeline Peters, was born at Fillmore, Dubuque County, Iowa, Dec. 12, 1860 and passed from this life at his home in Bagley, Iowa, March 22, 1942, at the age of 81 years, three months and 10 days. He came to Jefferson, Iowa, in the spring of 1880 and located in Bagley in 1882, where he has since made his home. In 1883 he was united in marriage to Della Stewart of Bagley. Of their eight children, two died in infancy. Those surviving are Charles of Bayard, Mrs. Julia Truax of Des Moines, Mrs. Cora Duncan of Great Falls, Montana, Mrs. George Porter, George and Ralph of Bagley. He was a member of the Methodist church, a good husband and father. He leaves to mourn his departure, besides his wife and children, one brother Ralph of California, 19 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and a number of other relatives and many friends. He was one of the early pioneers of this community and through the years he has been loved and respected by all who knew him."
