97 year old George Peardon died Tuesday at the Green County Medical Center when he had spent many of his last days.
Born in Canada September 10, 1880, he came with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Peardon, to Green County when he was three years old. After his marriage to Daisy Secrist on July 26, 1905, they farmed in the Scranton and Bayard communities.
They moved to Jefferson in 1927 and Mrs. Peardon died in 1949. Since then he has continued to live in Jefferson where he held various odd jobs.
Final rites for Mr. Peardon will be held today at 2 p m from the Jefferson Gospel Open Bible Church of which he was a member and regular attendant. Pastor of the church, Rev R Harold Pope, will officiate, Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Waldo will sing and Mrs. Gary West will serve as organist. grandchildren, George, Dennis, Duane and Fred Ayers, Jr. and Robert and Frank Prescott will serve as casket bearers. Interment will be at the Scranton cemetery.
Besides his wife and parents, two daughters preceded him in death. They were Esther Anceline and Alma Mae Prescott. Survivors include daughters, Catharine (Mrs. Hugo) Plant, Jefferson; Marguerette (Mrs. Fred) Ayers, Bagley and Ada Ruth (Mrs. R S) Jones, Otho, 16 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
