Mass of the resurrection for Michael J. Feeney, 73 of Jefferson was held at 10 a m Wednesday, December 7, from St Joseph's Catholic church in Jefferson with Rev Jerome H Degen officiating. Two rosaries were said Tuesday night in the sininger chapel. The first was Knight of Columbus followed by a parish rosary.
Burial was in St Joseph's cemetery and Mike was laid to rest carried by grandsons Steven and Mark Gingery, James, Larry, Michael and Jeff Feeney.
Mr. Feeney's death occurred in their home in Jefferson December 5. He was born December 24, 1903, near Grand Junction. He grew up there and was graduated from St. Mary's high school in Grand Junction in 1921.
January 19, 1932, he was married to Madeline Minnihan with the ceremony performed in the church from which he was buried. They were the parents of Ann (Mrs. James) Gingery of Churdan; Edward of Boone, and Jerome of Council Bluffs.
The Feeneys farmed north of Grand Junction for a few years before moving near Bayard. Here they farmed for 40 years. He retired in 1975 and the couple moved to Jefferson.
He was active in St Joseph's chuch and the Knights of Columbus. While at Bayard, he was a devoted member of St Patrick's Catholic church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Ellen Kennedy Feeney; a brother, John and a sister, Sr Mary Assumpta, RSM.
Surviving are his wife, his children, 21 grandchildren, two great grandchildren and a sister, Helena (Mrs John) Boyle, Jr. of Tucson, AZ
