Funeral services for Mrs. Ada Fern Martin were held December 31 at 2:30 p.m. from the First United Methodist church at Woodbine. the pastor, Rev Douglas Peters, officiated. She died at the Guthrie County hospital last Wednesday following a long bout with cancer.
For the past year, Mrs. Martin had lived in a senior citizens home in Bayard. Prior to that she had lived in western Iowa and Nebraska.
Born in Harrison County November 21, 1906, she was the daughter of Cecil and Hilda Nelson Dow. She was married to Leslie Martin who preceded her in death in 1959.
She spent her lifetime as a housewife and for a time served as a housemother at the state school in Toledo.
Survivors include daughters Betty Reist of Brownville, Texas, and Mary Lou Kloewer of Papillion, Nebr; sons Wayne of Sacramento, Calif; Ronald of Ashland, Nebr, and Harley of Grimes. There are 14 grandchildren and a sister Edith Barkhoff, Sac City, and a brother, Edward Dow of Minneapolis, Minn.
