Funeral services for Maria Margareta Carstens, 82, were held Monday, January 31, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Rev Dean L Bottjen officiated at the 11 a.m. service. Mrs. Lula Honold was organist and accompanied Mrs. Shirley Hackmeister as she sang hymns.
Interment was in the Willow Township cemetery and Mrs. Carstens was carried there by grandsons, Charles, Jeff and Paul Carstens, Tim Lucht, Mike Deeth and Jack Hunter.
Maria Margareta Hansen Carstens was born November 18, 1894, in Holstein, Germany. She married John Henry Carstens April 14, 1914. They began farming near Glidden and later lived in the Scranton and Bagley communities.
She passed away Thursday, January 27, at the Thomas Rest Haven where she had been a resident since July 1, 1975.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Henry, and a son John Henry, Jr.
She Is survived by a brother, William Hansen of Jefferson and her children, Mrs. Anna Bielenberg, Scranton; Mrs. Margaret Lucht, Bayard; David Carstens, Lake City; Mrs. Louise Lucht and Mrs. Dorothy Deeth, Coon Rapids; Mrs. Rosie Hunter, Bagley; Herman Carstens, Paton; Ernest Carstens, Bagley; Don Carstens, Scranton, and Mrs. Lois Moore of Geneso, Ill. 43 Grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren.
