A long bout with cancer proved fatal to Warren Russell at his home in San Jose, Calif, March 1. A native of Bayard, Mr. Russell had spent the last several years in California where he was a painter.
The body was flown to Bayard where final services were held from the United Methodist Church Monday at 2 p.m. Pastor of the church, Rev A Keith Hauser, officiated and Miss Lula Garnes was organist and accompanied Mrs. Patricia Schwartz when she sang two hymns.
Interment was made in the Highland Cemetery and the casket was carried by Franklin Trucks, Leon Betts, Kenneth Russell, Tom Lau and Gary and Douglas Gray.
Warren Elson Russell, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Will Russell, was born July 9, 1916, at Bayard and departed this life at his home in San Jose, Calif, at the age of 60 years, 8 months and 7 days. His death was caused by cancer and occurred March 1.
Warren served with the armed forces in World War 11 for three and one-half years. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Isabel, an a brother, Dick. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Eva, a daughter, Carol Ann (Mrs. Norman) Palmer and three grandchildren. Also step-sons, Jerry and Jackie Reed of Coos Bay, Oregon, a step-daughter Donna Berry of Oregon, six grandchildren, one great granddaughter, two sisters, Lunele (Mrs. Troy) Trucks of Coon Rapids, Martha (Mrs. Wayne) Osten of Prineville, Ore. Also, five brothers, Morton of Diamond City, Ark; Darrell of San Jose, Calif; George of Lake Port, Calif; Jack of Jamaica, and Billy of Des Moines and a host of relative and friends.
Warren was kind and friendly and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
