Perry Ballard Compton son of Fred and Gertrude Compton was born in Guthrie Center May 22, 1913. Perry's early life was spent in the family home, attending school in Guthrie Center.
On December 23, 1938, Dorothy Vandeventer and Perry Compton were united in marriage. To this union one daughter, Janet, was born. Following their marriage they farmed east of Monteith community for a number of years. After retirement they spent their life in Guthrie County.
Perry was preceded in death by his father.
Perry passed away in the Guthrie County Hospital March 17. To mourn his passing he leaves his wife, Dorothy, his daughter, Janet, two grandchildren, his mother, Mrs. Gertrude Compton of Cooper, three brothers, Fred of Guthrie Center, Steven of Palos Hills, Ill, and Dolph of Bayard, four sisters, Mrs. George Richards of Bagley, Mrs. Ernest Lydon of Greenfield, Mrs. Vern Renslow of Guthrie Center and Mrs. Marian Smith of Santee, California. Perry is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Services for Perry Compton were held at the First Christian Church Guthrie Center, Saturday, March 19, at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev Jerry D. Palmer, officiating. Burial was at the Union Cemetery, Guthrie Center.
