Funeral services for Ellis "Cy" Ford were held from the Starling Funeral Home in Bayard Saturday at 2 p.m. LeRoy Guernsey, minister of the Bayard Church of Christ, officiated. Piano selections were played by Patricia Schwartz.
Interment was made in the Highland Cemetery and the casket was carried by Leon Peckumn, Arnold Loyd, Merle Shawd, Marvin Peckumn, John McCool and Idwal Hughes.
A native of Bayard, Mr. Ford lived in the north Guthrie area until World War ll when he served in the military for two years. Since the mid 40's he had lived in Illinois and Des Moines where he died April 13.
Ellis Lyle "Cy" Ford
Ellis Lyle Ford, son of Charles and Mabel McCool Ford, was born on a farm south of Bayard October 13, 1910. He passed away at the Veterans Hospital in Des Moines April 13, 1977 at the age of 66 years and five months.
He served in the United States Army during World War 11 for two years.
He was united in marriage to Frances Duncan and to this union was born three sons, Kent of Denver, Colorado; Charles of Perry and Richard of Arkansas City, Kansas.
He lived and worked in Chicago, Illinois, for many years, returning to Iowa about 14 years ago, where he lived until his death. He has been in failing health for the past few years.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
He is survived by his three sons, one sister, Opal (Mrs. Orville) Evelsizer of Bagley; nine grandchildren; one uncle, Homer Ford of Perry and other relatives and friends.
