From the Marion Sentinel of Marion, IA Thursday, February 25, 1915:
Ed Coleman, aged 35, a prominent young farmer, living four miles east of Guthrie Center, was almost instantly killed in a peculiar accident.
He was driving a stake into the ground with a sledge hammer while standing near a gasoline engine, which was propelling a buzz saw. When Coleman swung the sledge about his head it came in contact with the fly wheel of the engine and rebounded, striking him on the head and causing almost instantaneous death.
