Mrs. Larry (Mary) Mozena was murdered in East Des Moines Tuesday shortly after noon. A native of Coon Rapids, she was the former Mary Pauli and her husband is a Bayard High school graduate.
Her body is at the Hamilton Funeral Home at 605 Lyon Street in Des Moines. A Mass of the Resurrection will be prayed Friday at 10 am from St Joseph's Catholic Church in Des Moines. A graveside rite will follow at 2:30 pm at the Willow Cemetery north of Bayard.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Mozena is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Pauli of Coon Rapids; three children, Jacque, 11; Lawrence, 8, and Thomas, 6; a brother, Ed Pauli of Murdock, Nebraska and sisters Judy Otto of Hawaii and Donna Tromblee in Texas, and her mother-in-law, Mrs. Ivan H. Mozena of Bayard.
According to reports from the scene, Mrs. Mozena was in her home at 3807 Hull Avenue when a neighbor entered the home and attacked her. She ran screaming from the house and was shot through the head in a neighbor's yard. The youngest child, Thomas, was with his mother when she was attacked.
At noon Wednesday it was reported that Larry D. Conley, 42, had been arrested in connection with her death.
The Mozenas were married in Coon Rapids in 1965 and have lived in Des Moines 12 yeas. Larry is employed at the Owen Crist Body Shop and was at work when Mary was killed.
