GERARDS OBSERVE 50TH
WEDDING ANNIVERSARY

--------

More than one hundred and fifty
relatives and friends, most of whom
were from Audubon and Guthrie
counties, helped Mr. and Mrs. George
Gerard celebrate their golden wed-
ding anniversary at their farm home
east of Guthrie Center on Primary
No. 7.

Mr. and Mrs. Gerard were mar-
ried at Cambridge, Ill., June 18, 1876.
They came to Iowa in 1879, settling
in Audubon county, where they lived
until 1904, when they moved to Guth-
rie county. Mr. and Mrs. Gerard have
two daughters, Mrs. Charles R. Gar-
nett, Hamlin, and Mrs. Willis L. Mc-
Affee, Estherville, who were here to
enjoy the day.

The Speedway Social Club, of which
Mrs. Gerard is a member, came in
a body and brought a beautiful gift.

Among the beautiful gifts received
was a wedding cake sent by a niece
who lives at Quincy, Ill.

Mrs. Mae Shank read a beautiful
poem which was written by herself.

Guthrie Center Guthrian.
