Obituary

Sinus Sinning, an old resident of Hardin county died Thursday afternoon, April 17, 1919, at the age of 65 years, two months and five days. He was a sufferer for a few years from kidney and heart trouble, but every care and attention from loving hands that could be ministered was given, yet he gradually sank to that sleep from whence there is no awakening until all loved ones shall gather before Him in the home beyond.

The deceased was born in Bunde, Ostfriesland, Germany, on Feb. 12, 1854. When fourteen years old he came to America and settled in Forreston, Ill., and after four years residence there removed to Hardin county, Iowa, where he spent the remainder of his life. On November 3, 1884 he was united in marriage to Miss Matilda Bunjer, daughter of Mrs. Hiska Bunjer, and this union was blessed with eleven children, seven of whom with the mother mourn the loss of a loving husband and father. They are Henry, Minnie, Fannie, Elizabeth at home, Harry of near Wellsburg, Mrs. Henry Meyer of Tea, S.D., Mrs. Arend Arends of near Aplington. The other four children have preceded him to the great beyond. Two brothers survive him, Ailert of Lennox, S. Dak., Eggel of Lake View, Iowa.

The funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the Presbyterian church of which he was a member for years. Rev. Engelke conducting the last sad rites over the remains before a large gathering of sorrowing friends and relatives.
