Sally Lou Blanton, 64, of Ackley, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at her home. Funeral services for Sally Blanton will be 1:30 pm Monday, December 16, 2013 at the East Friesland Presbyterian Church, Ackley, Iowa. Burial will be at the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 3pm to 5pm on Sunday, December 15, 2013 at the East Friesland Presbyterian Church. Woodley Funeral Home, LLC of Iowa Falls is caring for Sally and her family.

Sally Lou Oelmann Blanton was born December 30, 1948 in Iowa Falls, Iowa, the daughter of Donald Oelmann and Marylou Rice. She graduated from the Ackley-Geneva High School with the class of 1967 and Mankato State University in 1990. In 1969 she was united in marriage to John Blanton at the East Friesland Presbyterian Church, Ackley, Iowa. The couple later divorced.

Sally was an Executive Recruiter for I.T. and Engineering for 20 years. She loved college football and the Iowa Hawkeyes, never missing a chance to cheer them on. She also enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers.

Sally is survived by her father Donald (Shirley) Oelmann of Iowa Falls, Iowa; her mother Marylou (Frank) Rice of Ackley, Iowa; a daughter Susan Blanton and granddaughter McKenna; two sisters: Deanna (Dick) Roelfs of Ackley, Iowa, Jane (Rex) Scatena of Saint Helena, California; a brother Scott (Linda) Oelmann of Evansdale, Iowa; step sisters: Sinda (Chad) Mulford of Iowa Falls, Iowa, Alana (Les) Meyer of Wellsburg, Iowa as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Sally also leaves behind her beloved cats Frankie and Johnie.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents and former husband. Sally will be missed by many. Let us give thanks to God for the life of Sally Blanton.
