Obituary of Andrew Ahrenholz

Andrew Ahrenholz was born in Germany Aug. 7, 1868. In 1888 he was married to Mary Meyer. In 1901 he came to America with his family and settled in Grundy county where he lived in the vicinity of Stout many years. Seven years ago he retired to New Hartford.

On Monday, August 17, he was stricken with infection of the bowels which proved fatal. He passed away Sept. 1, 1934, having reached the age of 68 years. Mr. Ahrenholz professed faith in Christ and was born again Dec. 11, 1923, and was known among his friends as a faithful Christian.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 1 o'clock at the home in New Hartford and at 2 o'clock in the Stout Gospel Hall with Oliver Smith, Waterloo, James Erskine of Des Moines, and William Greirson of Houston, Texas, in charge. Mr. Ahrenholz arranged his own funeral a few days before he went home to be with the Lord which was carried out accordingly. Casket bearers were Sam Cirksena, Henry DeGroote, Arendt Nabor, George Ahrends, Harm DeBuhr and Conrad Weber. Burial was made in the Salem Lutheran cemetery four miles southwest of Stout.

Surviving are three sons: Henry of near Fern; Oscar of Waterloo; Andrew of New Hartford; three daughters: Mrs. Fritz Henze, Mrs. Henry Cornelius, both of Stout; Mrs. Fred Smith of New Hartford; and his widow, Mrs. Mary Ahrenholz.
