Tom Freese Dies Of Heart Attack

Tom Freese, a lifetime resident of Grundy county, died at his home seven miles north of Grundy Center in Colfax township about midnight last Thursday from a heart attack which came on suddenly in his bed and death followed almost immediately. He had been in good health up to the time he was stricken. He was 60 years old.

Funeral services were at one o'clock Tuesday at the Engelkes funeral home in Grundy Center and later at Salem Lutheran church two miles north of Fern. Rev. Alfred F. Schumm, pastor of Salem Lutheran church, officiated at the services. Burial was in the Salem Lutheran cemetery.

Tom Freese was born December 28, 1892, on a farm in Lincoln township. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Freese. On Dec. 18, 1918, he and Lena Flater were married. The first eight years of their married life they resided on a farm. After that they moved to Fern where he owned and operated a hardware store for nine years. In 1936 he and his family moved to their present farm home in Colfax township. In late years he had been engaged in painting, and the past year he was employed part-time at the Marshall canning factory in Grundy Center.

Surviving are his wife and six children. The children are: Henry, of Fern; Christ, Holland; Fred, Parkersburg; Edward, Emma and Elva, who are at home. There is one grandchild and one sister, Mrs. Grace Pruisner, Grundy Center.
