Cedar Falls--Melvin K. Dewey, 80, of 325 E. Ninth St., died Tuesday, Nov. 7, at Waverly Municipal Hospital of natural causes.

He was born July 12, 1909, at Ottumwa, S.D., son of Clarence and Ola King Dewey. He married Madgel Stephens. They were later divorced. He then married Marian H. Pinnt. She died July 13, 1974. He then married Harriette Chapin. She died Feb. 19, 1981. He then married Bonnie Mitchell.

He was employed with the city of Cedar Falls from 1951 to 1977 and for most of those years was the electrical inspector. After retiring, he worked with Merrams Midway Shows.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, John of Dennison, Texas, and Greg of Cedar Falls; a daughter, Mrs. Gary Huberg of New Hartford; 6 stepdaughters, Mrs. David Fobian and Mrs. David Meyer, both of Cedar Falls, Mrs. Robert Abrans of Streamwood, Ill., Mrs. Robert Krivolady of Oskaloosa, Mrs. Nick Kane of St. Louis Park, Minn., and Patricia Mitchell of Waterloo; four stepsons, Ross Chapin of Cedar Falls, Ron Bonzer and Don Bonzer, both of Shell Rock, and Allen Gardner of Waterloo; five grandchildren; 20 step-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Eula Curtis of Russell. He was preceded in death by a brother, Keith Dewey.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home with burial in Hillcrest Cemetery. Friends may call until 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until services on Friday.
