R.D. THOMPSON DIES SUDDENLY

R.D. Thompson, a resident of this community for more than thirty years, died Monday from a heart attack. Mr. Thompson was talking with men who were watching the work of men laying a water main to the property which he had recently purchased from the Chas. Nelson heirs. He had been visiting in a very normal manner and when his conversation was halted, his friends turned to find him slumped over in death. He had been in apparent good health and never been warned in any manner of an unsatisfactory heart condition.

Rhuben Daniel Thompson, the son of George W. and Lillian Thompson, was born in Taylor county, Iowa, January 17, 1895, and passed away October 9, 1950, at the age of 55 years, 10 months and 22 days.

He was united in marriage to Bessie Cole at Siam, Iowa, Dec. 5, 1915, and to this union seven children were born. A daughter passed away in infancy. Surviving is his wife, four daughters, Mrs. Paul Hull, Mrs. Thurman Hukill and Mrs. Rex Troxel all of Hamburg; and Mrs. Marry Leaha of Santa Ana, Calif; two sons, Ray and Royal, also of Hamburg; six grandchildren, and his age mother, Mrs. Lillian Thompson of Hopkins, Mo., a sister, Mrs. Ola Forney of Toppenish, Washington, and a host of friends. His father passed away in 1941 and his only brother died a young man.

Mr. Thompson became a member of the Christian church in his youth. He was a kind husband and father, providing well for his family. He was a trucker for several years and more recently a farmer, in which operation he was very successful.

Funeral services will be held at the Johnson Funeral Home Thursday, Oct. 12, at 2 p.m., conducted by Hugh M. Olson. Burial will be in the Mt. Olive cemetery.
