Omer (Corky) McAlexander
November 16, 1928/ October 23,2014

Funeral services for Omer (Corky) McAlexander, 85, of Tabor, IA, were held October 26 at the First Christian Church of Tabor, with the Rev. Don Ludwick and Mr. Gary Moles officiating. Mr. McAlexander had been at Tabor Manor following several weeks of complications from lung cancer and pneumonia at the hospital.

Jo Harold was in charge of the memory book. Jamie Fichter, Taylor Chambers, Haylee Chambers, Melissa Tibben and Monica Sanchez were in charge of the flowers. Honorary members of the flower committee were Marilyn Chambers and Brandy Keller. Melody Van Scoyc was pianist and Rick Hillyard and Steve Taylor were musicians. Musical selections were, “The Old Rugged Cross, and “He Walked On Water.” Pallbearers were Ryan McAlexander, Aaron Domaschk, Travis McAlexander, Brad McAlexander, Troy Eskew, Brian Marshall and Amanda McAlexander.

Interment was in the Tabor, IA, Cemetery. A memorial fund is being established. Crawford Marshall Chapel of Tabor was in charge of the arrangements.

Omer (Corky) McAlexander was born November 16, 1928, to Minnie Jane McAlexander and Jesse (Jack) McAlexander at the McAlexander home in McPaul. He was an avid sportsman and participated in all sports while attending and graduation from Thurman, IA, High School in 1947.

In 1953 Corky married Lila Louise Collins in Sidney, IA, and started building a family in the rural Thurman area. In the following years they had three children, Michael (1954), Teresa (1956) and Denise (1958). The McAlexanders moved to Tabor in 1957 and remained there for the rest of their lives. They bought the property at 105 Elm Street in 1965.

He held various construction jobs throughout his life that included several years working for the City of Tabor and culminated in going to work for Jim Anderson and eventually owning and operating McAlexander Construction in 1977.

After 53 years of marriage, Mrs. McAlexander died on July 22, 2006. After his wife’s passing, he enjoyed staying busy with small construction jobs in the local area and putting his time and energy in to the family, the community and the garden.

He is survived by his children, Michael and Nancy of Camden, AR, Teresa Domaschk of Denver, CO, and Denise McAlexander of Tabor, IA; grandchildren, Brad McAlexander (Michael), Amanda McAlexander (Michael), Ryan and Sandy McAlexander (Teresa), Aaron Domaschk (Teresa), Travis McAlexander (Denise); and great grandchildren Tyson, Kyle, and Kaitlyn McAlexander (Ryan).

He is also survived by sisters Eloise Moore and Joyce Marshall, both of Carlsbad, N.M.:
