Last Rites Today for Hampton Teacher

Richard J. Knoll, eighth grade teacher in Hampton Community Schools, passed away Monday morning at the Methodist hospital in Rochester, Minnesota where he was a patient only six hours. He had been in ill health for some time and death was due to leukemia.

Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 11:00 o'clock at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, in Dougherty, with Father L. H. Rieck's officiating. Burial will be made in church cemetery. The Vogel Funeral Home of Hampton is in charge of the arrangements.

He was born May 18, 1939, at Dougherty, the son of Mr. & Mrs. Harold Knoll. He graduated from St. Patrick's high school in Dougherty in 1957 and from the State College of Iowa, in Cedar Falls, in 1962. This would have been his second year of teaching in the Hampton Community Schools. He was married to Theresa Vernon August 10, 1963, in Mason City.

He is survived by his wife, his father, Harold Knoll of Long Beach, California, his mother, Mrs. Gladys Cubbage of Cedar Rapids, two brothers, Gerald Knoll, of Iowa City and Daniel Knoll of Riverside, California, two sisters, Mrs. Robert Witham, of Cedar Rapids and Miss Mary Sue Knoll of Minneapolis, his grandfather, E. G. Dougherty of Dougherty and his grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Fred Knoll, of Charles City.

Mr. Knoll was a member of St. Patrick's church in Hampton and the Holy Name Society.
