Pennington, Edna Bell (Gillsbeck) 1897 – 1926

Edna Bell Gillsbeck was born at Bassett, Chickasaw county, Iowa, on June 13, 1897, and departed this life at Stacyville, Iowa, at eight o’clock p. m. August 11, 1926, after a ten days’ illness following an operation for appendicitis, at the age of 29 years, 1 month and 28 days.
She was the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Gillsbeck of Bassett, and spent her girlhood in this community, receiving her education in the public school and at the New Hampton high school.
She was united in marriage with Mr. Guy Pennington of Bassett June 16, 1914, and on March 1st, 1915, moved to their farm home near Stacyville, where they have since resided.
Beautiful in character, face and form, she possessed a kind and loving disposition, and was loved by all who knew her; ever happy and faithful in performing the duties of her household and assisting in social circles.

“God has claimed our child and friend—
No more her friendly smiles we will see;
No more her aid in social life.
But God will grant the memories dear
Of her to friends left here.”

Besides her parents she leaves to mourn her passing her husband, Guy W. Pennington, and one sister, Mrs. Dewey E. Pennington of Bassett, together with many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at her late home near Stacyville on Friday, Aug. 13, at 10:30 o’clock a. m., and the First Christian church at Charles City at 2 o’clock p. m., Rev. G. A. Hess officiating. Interment was at Riverside cemetery, Charles City.
