Olivia Lines - Marble Rock, Iowa

Funeral services for Olivia Lines, 101, of Marble Rock will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Roseville with Rev. Msgr. Walter Brunkan officiating. Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery, Marble Rock.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-7 p.m at the Retz Funeral Home in Marble Rock, with a Rosary Service at 7 p.m. and will continue one hour before services on Wednesday at the church.

Olivia Bredeck was born on July 2, 1917 in Albany, Minnesota to George and Anna (Purney) Bredeck and entered eternal rest on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at the Concord Care Center in Garner. She received her education in the Albany Public School and graduated in 1935.

Over the years, Olivia worked at the Harris Nursing Home in Marble Rock, was manager for the Marble Rock Locker, managed Goetzinger Hardware and Food Store and finally managed of Hoeft Grocery Store. She spent many years walking bean fields for local farmers. When she retired in the late 70’s she did volunteer work for the Treasure Chest/ Comprehensive Systems in Charles City.

She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Roseville and also attended Immaculate Conception Church in Charles City. She was proud to be the oldest person in both congregations.

She was united in marriage to Arthur W. Lines on November 20, 1947 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greene. This marriage was blessed with four children. They lived most of their lives in Marble Rock.

She liked flowers and birds, was a good cook, had a large garden and enjoyed canning, she liked to sing and play Bingo. Olivia refinished furniture and did upholstery work. Most of all she loved the time she and her husband sat on the porch “watching the world go by”. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. She treasured the times she was able to spend with her family.

Living family members include 4 children: Kay Stiller, Garner; Lyla (Phillip) Clayton, Ogden; Allan (Sharon) Lines, Ruthven; Arthur (Nancy) Lines, Charles City; 11 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren; 14 great - great grandchildren; 2 sisters-in-law: Alice Bredeck, Elk River, MN; Lucille Lines, Brooklyn, IA; and many nieces and nephews.

Olivia was preceded in death by her husband Arthur in 1982; son-in-law Wesley Stiller in 2011; her parents and 7 siblings.
