Darlene Keifer - Greene, Iowa

Funeral Services for Darlene Ann Keifer, 78, of Greene, will be Saturday, September 15, 2018, at 2:00 p.m., at Retz Funeral Home, 519 N. First St. Greene, with Pastor Dennis Burns officiating. Burial in Rose Hill Cemetery, Greene. Visitation will be from noon until service time on Saturday.

Darlene Ann Baldwin was born March 16, 1940, in Charles City, the daughter of Bernard and Audrey (Shultz) Baldwin and passed away Monday, September 10, 2018, in Mason City, Iowa from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. She received her education in the public schools of Marble Rock.

She was united in marriage to Dean William Keifer on April 6, 1957, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. This union was blessed with one son, Mike.

Darlene was a member of The Church of the Brethren in Greene where she made a profession of faith and joined the church on June 11, 2000. Formerly, she was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church in Marble Rock. She was employed at the Allison Manor Care Center and also did private duty geriatric patient care in the area. This type of work came natural to her as she was kind hearted and always concerned about the welfare of others.

She loved animals, especially dogs, enjoyed her flowers and visiting with friends over a cup of coffee, and playing board and card games. Darlene was extremely devoted to her family. Darlene treasured the times she spent attending activities, sporting events, and school programs with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Living family members include her son Michael (Pam Lienau) Keifer, Greene; 2 grandchildren: Chelsea (Dan Bach) Schroeder, Wellsburg; Dillon Keifer, San Francisco, California; 4 Great-Grandchildren: Ava and Brea Schroeder, Lyla and Lennon Bach and a fifth to arrive in March; Darlene had a very close relationship with Terri Blanchard and considered her the daughter she never had. She also loved Conner and Ryann and considered them her great-grandchildren; many friends.

Darlene was preceded in death by her husband Dean, parents, two sisters and four brothers.
