Mary Leslie, 85, of Charles City, passed away Monday, September 4, 2018 at the 9th Street Chautauqua Guest Home.

A funeral service for Mary Leslie will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 8, 2018 at Hauser Funeral Home with Pastor Dennis Bachman from Nashua First Congregational Church officiating. Burial will be at Sunnyside Memory Gardens in rural Charles City, Iowa.

A gathering of family and friends will be one hour prior to the service on Saturday at Hauser Funeral Home.

Mary Pebble (Herman) Leslie, the daughter of Jake and Elizabeth (Wilson) Herman, was born on November 29, 1932 in Crocker, Missouri. On December 22, 1951 Mary was united in marriage to Marion Leslie Sr.

Mary worked as a dietary aide at the Floyd County Hospital, was a waitress at various businesses in Charles City, and sold Avon. Mary loved to play Bingo multiple times a week in Charles City and the surrounding areas. She enjoyed scratch tickets, going shopping (especially for purses, shoes, and watches) and sitting on her porch watching the humming birds.

Living family members include her children: Maria Janssen, Marion Leslie, Michcal Leslie, Janice Thompson, and Ann Debettingnies; 26 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren; along with her Chihuahua and Chihuahua-Shih Tzu: Angel and Moppet “Mutsy”.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Marion; children: Katherine, Margaret, and Kenneth; infant brother; siblings: Walter Wilson, June Herman, Grace McDonald, and Alfred Herman; and grandchildren: Russel and Tonya.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
