Obituary for Jennifer Linn Shapley

Jennifer Linn Shapley, 44, of Nora Springs passed away Sunday, August 5, 2018 at her home.

Jennifer’s family will host a memorial service in her honor, 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 12, 2018 at Boulder Park, located on North Boulder Avenue, Nora Springs, Iowa. Burial will be in Park Cemetery, Nora Springs, Iowa at a later date.

Jennifer Linn Shapley was born on March 5th, 1974 to Vaughn and Marcene (Fisher) Shapley in Iowa City. Growing up in Nora Springs, she was a young, energetic, adventurous child. She found a love in performing, whether it be dance, cheerleading or working. She was constantly helping people and was always watching out for others. Jennifer graduated from Nora Springs High School in 1992.

Jennifer’s life was changed after a terrible accident in 1990. She was diagnosed with Mitochondrial Cytopathy, a disease that destroys the pathways from brain to muscle. Though this disease took many things from her, Jennifer never let it take away her intelligence, loving personality, unwavering hope, love for music, or sense of humor. She took every day at its best and made the most of the memories and experiences she was able to have with her friends and family. Her family was her world and she loved them unconditionally. She had always been a constant in their lives, someone to count on to be there when she was needed most.

She will be missed each day by her loving family: her siblings, Debra Shapley of Nora Springs, Meredith Willis of Elma, and Mark Shapley of Mason City; her nieces and nephews, Caylor Shapley, Lisa Cox, Angela Shapley, Katura Welsh, and Illyria Cox; and her lifelong friend, Amy Rasmus of New Orleans, LA as well as numerous cousins, and extended family members.

Those preceding her in death are her parents, Vaughn and Marcene (Fisher) Shapley; and siblings, Michael Shapley, Jackie Welsh, and her sister Michelle in infancy.
