RUDD, IOWA – Jaunita R. Harden, 85, of Nora Springs and formerly of Rudd, died Friday, July 27, 2018, at the Nora Springs Care Center. Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 4, 2018, at Eden Presbyterian Church, 3105 Glass Ave, Rudd, with the Rev. Cathy Belles officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Rudd. Visitation will be held Friday, August 3, 2018, from 5 pm until 7 pm at Sheckler Colonial Chapel, 114 N. Hawkeye Ave., Nora Springs, and will continue one hour prior to Jaunita's service at the church on Saturday.

Obituary for Jaunita R. Harden

Jaunita R. Harden, 85, of Nora Springs and formerly of Rudd, died Friday (July 27, 2018) at the Nora Springs Care Center.

A funeral service for Jaunita will be held at 10:30 am Saturday (August 4, 2018) at Eden Presbyterian Church, 3105 Glass Ave, Rudd, with the Rev. Cathy Belles officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery, Rudd.

Visitation with public viewing will be held Friday (August 3, 2018) from 5 pm until 7 pm at Sheckler Colonial Chapel, 114 N. Hawkeye Ave., Nora Springs, and will continue one hour prior to Jaunita’s service at the church on Saturday.

Jaunita Ruth (Myers) Harden was born on December 3, 1932 in Decatur county, Iowa to George and Hazel (McCullough) Myers. She grew up attending several different schools in the Decatur county area, graduating from Leon High School in 1951.

After graduation she married her high school sweetheart, Don Harden, while he was stationed at Fort Benning, Georgia. They were married at Central Christian Church on August 28, 1951, three weeks later Don was sent overseas.

While her husband was in the service Jaunita worked as a secretary at a health clinic in Leon. When he returned home they moved to north Iowa where they farmed.

She enjoyed working outside and helping, was involved with her children’s school activities, and was a scout leader for several years.
She and her husband were long time members of Eden Presbyterian Church.

After moving into Rudd in 1974 she worked part time at the local grocery store. Later she worked for ten years at Anthony Clothing Store in Mason City where she was in charge of the Women’s Department. She was at Anthony’s until is closed. She then began working for Schumberg’s Furniture in Rockford until its closing; she also helped part time at the local Farmer’s Co-Op.

Jaunita enjoyed her children and grandchildren and the holidays. She liked to cook and sew quilts. She and Don loved to travel and always enjoyed road trips.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Michael (Rosalie) Harden, Rockford, Pamela (Gary) Pump, Tiffin, and Victoria (Timothy) Whelan, Clear Lake; grandchildren, Tony (Yolanda) Harden, Jennifer (Mitch) Noel, Jamie (Mark) Newel, Tanner (Sara) Pump, Terrence (Melissa) Pump, Lucas (McKessey) Pump, Emma Whelan, Hannah Whelan, and Lorna Whelan; great grandchildren, Christopher Godwin, Olivia Harden, Adrian Noel, Lawson Noel, Tatum Newel, Colbie Newel, Nile Pump, Nolan Pump, Treyton Pump, Lincoln Pump, Leah Pump, and Lydia Pump; her sister, Betty Smith; many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

Jaunita is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Don, in 2007; great granddaughter, Hannah Pump; great grandson, Kendrick Pump; brother, Harold Myers; sister, Louetta Richardson; and brother in law, Kenneth Smith.
