Lynn Evander Vestal

June 27, 1933 - June 23, 2018

Lynn E. Vestal 84, of Waterloo, Iowa, died Saturday, June 23, at Ravenwood Specialty Care.

He was born June 27, 1933, in Marble Rock, Iowa, the son of Evander and Lucille Freeman Vestal. He married Mary “Barb’ Essman October 22, 1955, in Charles City, Iowa.

Lynn graduated from New Hampton High School in 1951 and was employed with Rath Packing as a factory worker for 35 years.

He is survived by two sons, Michael Vestal of Boone and David Vestal of Waterloo; a daughter, Diane Vestal of Waterloo; two granddaughters, Danielle Vestal of Wisconsin and Amanda Vestal of Waterloo; five great-grandchildren: Alexys, Doug, Raynah, Zane, and Connor; a brother, Dale (Brenda) Vestal of New Hampton; and a sister, Lois Betzer of New Hampton.

He was preceded in death by his wife; and three sisters: Bernadine George, Phyllis Carr, and Marlys Harriott

Public vitiation will be from 3-5:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 27, at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street. Military rites will be performed at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday by the Waterloo AMVETS Post 19, Evansdale AMVETS Post 31 and the Iowa Honor Guard at the funeral home. Inurnment will take place privately at Mt. Olivet Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be directed to a local veteran’s organization in Lynn’s name.
