Ann Elizabeth (Block) Diggins 1926-2018

Ann Elizabeth Diggins, 92, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away Thursday, June 7, 2018, at the Adams Health Care Center.

Ann Elizabeth Block was born March 6, 1926, in Rudd, Iowa, to Jens and Blanche (Seffinga) Block. She was baptized and confirmed at the First Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar, Iowa. The family lived near Lyle, Minnesota, and she attended Austin High School, graduating in 1944.

On March 24, 1946, Ann married Clifford F. Diggins in Austin. The couple made their home in Austin and was blessed with four children. She raised her family and then started working in physical therapy at the Sacred Heart Care Center in Austin. Ann was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Austin, the Horticulture Society, and served as a judge at the Mower County Fair and Minnesota State Fair. She enjoyed gardening and had her own kiln for making and firing pottery. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her sons, Jeff Diggins of Austin, Keith Diggins of Austin and Roger Diggins of Austin; brothers, Richard Block of Stillwater, Minnesota, Phillip (Bonnie) Block of Oakdale, Minnesota, and David (Pat) Block of Palm Court, Florida; sister, Gloria Read of Woodbury, Minnesota; five grandchildren, Kendall, Kyle, Darrick, Dustin and Patrick; five great-grandchildren, Jon, Jolene, Blair, Kylee and Averie.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jens and Blanche Block; husband, Clifford F. Diggins in 1997; daughter, Sandra Johnson; two brothers, Robert and Kenneth Block; and one sister, Marilyn Lewis.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 14, 2018, at the First United Methodist Church in Austin with the Rev. Dennis Tamke officiating. Visitation will be for one hour before the service on Thursday at the church. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Austin.
