NORA SPRINGS, IOWA - Leili Hedrick, 87, of Nora Springs, died Thursday, February 22, 2018, at Rockwell Community Nursing Home in Rockwell, Iowa.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 3, 2018, at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 101 N. Hawkeye Ave., Nora Springs, with Rev. David Werges officiating. Inurnment will be in Park Cemetery in Nora Springs.

Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Friday, March 2, 2018, at Sheckler Colonial Chapel, 114 N. Hawkeye Ave., Nora Springs.

Family suggests memorial contributions to Hospice of North Iowa or to the Rockwell Community Nursing Home.

Leili was born July 23, 1930, the daughter of August and Marie (Rosenstengel) Sonike, in Vaike-Maarja, Estonia, where she attended grade school. She graduated high school in Germany and lived in a displaced persons camp in Germany with her mother and siblings until they came to Mason City in 1950.

She was united in marriage to Donald Allen Hedrick on July 24, 1963. She worked as a head cook at Good Shepherd and a cook at other facilities until she retired. She graduated from Iowa State University in food service sciences.

Leili enjoyed baking, cooking, gardening, crocheting and spending as much time as possible with her grandchildren who lovingly referred to her as “Super Grandma.”

Leili is survived by a son, Dale (Rhonda) Hedrick of Altoona; a daughter, Renee (Bradley) Bartling of Rockford; two grandsons, Brandon Hedrick and Ryan Bartling; a granddaughter, Rebecca Bartling; and three nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; parents; a sister, Milvi; two brothers, Aulis and Walter; and two brothers in infancy, Heldur and Eelar.

Family suggests memorial contributions to the Leili Hedrick Memorial Fund.
