Drowned in a Barrel.
Oelwein, Iowa, June 11.—Mr. John Saundry, a prominent retired farmer, about 70 years of age, living in this city, was drowned last night. He got up about 10 o’clock and told his wife who was sick, that he was going to take a bath. He was found this morning back of the house lying on the ground with his head in a rain barrel. The barrel was sunk in the ground, and was full of water. It is evidently a case of suicide, as he had removed the cover and his hands were grasping the top of the barrel when found. He has been despondent for some time on account of some business matters that are not being handled to suit him. He leaves a wife and three children.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he was born in 1828 and is buried in Hazel Green, WI.
