Obituary.
FINNEGAN.
Mrs. Mary Annie Finnegan died at her home in Cresco, Tuesday forenoon, June 14,1904. She had been a sufferer from heart disease for several years, but on the morning of her death said that she felt better than usual and conversed with her family in her usual happy manner until five minutes before her death, when without any warning she passed into that long, peaceful sleep that knows no awakening.
Mary A. Brannon was born in Richland County, Ohio, in 1840, coming with her parents to Dubuque eleven years later where they resided for one year, after which they removed to Fayette county where she had lived until three years ago when she with her family came to Cresco. She was seldom away from home owing to poor health, but those who have had the pleasure of her acquaintance found in her a true, noble, unselfish woman and happy in having met her.
The funeral was held at Waucoma, Thursday morning, where St. Rose church was thronged with loving friends, all anxiously waiting to gaze for the last time on the face of her they all loved so well in life and Rev. Father Hogan in his impressive manner described the beautiful, virtuous life of the deceased, advising each and everyone present to follow her example and be as well prepared should God call them suddenly. That she lived her life well was a credit to her friends and family and the world was better for her having lived in it, and many were the tender words spoken as the casket was gently lowered by the side of her loving husband who preceded her to the other world years ago. Seven children are left to mourn the loss of a sainted mother: Mrs. Joseph Heyberger, of Lawler, and Mrs. Jas. Costigan, Patrick, Thomas, Philip, Mary L., and Rosetta, of Cresco.

Our dear mother, she has left us
And her loss we deeply feel;
‘Twas God who has bereft us,
He can all our sorrows heal.

Those coming to Cresco from away to be present at the funeral were: Thomas and James Brannon, of Waucoma, (brothers of deceased;) Mrs. Margaret Nolan and Frank Brannon, of New Hampton; L. E. Brannon, Thos. Brannon, A. Shekleton, and P. Walsh, of Lawler, and John and Sarah Kelley and Dan’l. and Miss Bridget Lyons, of Navan. COM.
