DIES IN NEW YORK

Mrs. D. B. Duncan, 67, Nee Nora Dykins -- Burial Here Saturday

Mrs. D.B. Duncan, 67, died Tuesday, April 12 [1938] at the family home in New York City, after an illness of many months, which had been serious since December 18 [1937]. The body was brought to West Union Saturday [16 April 1938] afternoon, and brief services were conducted at the cemetery chapel by the Rev. George DeF. Fisher.

As Nora E. Dykins, she was born at Alpha [Fayette County, Iowa] February 2, 1871. Her parents were Mr. and Mrs. C.C. Dykins, later of West Union. She made her home in New York City for a few years before her marriage to D.B. Duncan in 1911 [sic; 1909?], and ever since then has had her home at the same address, 411 West 115th Street.

Surviving her are two brothers, Albert W. Dykins, Ramona, S.D., and Charles W. Dykins, Lewiston, Mont. Her husband is a professor of English in Columbia University, a post he has held for twenty-five years. He has been a teacher in public or private schools of that city for forty-seven years.

Professor Duncan accompanied the body here, and left on the return trip a few hours later. Miss Dora Dykins, a niece, who is a high school teacher in Lewiston, Mont., came Friday and remained until Sunday. Sidney Ainsworth, teaching at Robbinsdale, Minn., also was here for the services. All were guests of Mr. and Mrs. F.W. Schneider.
