OBITUARY
------

JACOB L. BUTLER
was born Feb. 15, 1850, in Green Co., Wisconsin, and died March 10,1899, at the home of his sister, Mrs. Cullins, two miles east of West Union, la., aged 49 years and 25 days.

He came to Fayette county in 1857, where be has resided almost continually since. He was the youngest of a family often children, four of which survive him. He was married Jane 27, 1875 to Miss Charlotte Smith, who preceded him to the grave Oct. 23, 1879.

Mr. Butler was a member of the Odd Fellows and Masonic lodges.

The funeral services were conducted by Rev. O. P. Harnish and the remains were laid to rest in the Mt. Pleasant burying ground.

Thus the sun of another life has set and the darkening shades of sorrow have gathered around many hearts.
