Funeral services were held on Friday, April 20, 2012 at the Zion Lutheran Church in West Union, Iowa for Dorothy "Dot" Elizabeth Granger who passed away on Sunday, April 15, 2012 at the Palmer Lutheran Health Center in West Union, Iowa. Rev. David Grant officiated and interment followed the services at the Windsor Cemetery in rural Hawkeye, Iowa.

Dorothy Elizabeth Granger was born on her family's farm in rural Hawkeye, Iowa on March 20, 1918 to Henry and Marie (Reisner) Reichel. She was baptized and confirmed at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Hawkeye. She graduated from the Hawkeye High School in 1935. She was united in marriage on September 26, 1939 to William "Bill" Granger, Jr. at Zion Lutheran Church in West Union, Iowa. They were parents to two children. Dot was a homemaker and bookkeeper for Granger Construction. Later in life she went to work for ABC Preschool in West Union. Dot enjoyed children, especially her grandchildren and growing flowers, particularly roses. She was an avid bowler for fifty plus years and held every office in the bowling league. She loved attending races and all her grandchildren's events. Dorothy was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.

Dorothy is survived by her sons Jim (Pat) Granger of West Union and Don (Brenda) Granger of Lake Kabetogama, Minnesota; six grandchildren Parnell (Michelle) Granger of Spokane, Washington, Cameron (Jodi) Granger of West Union, David (Sara) Granger of Kansas City, Kansas, Daryl Granger of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, John (Jenny) Law of Waverly, Iowa and Tim (Kara) Law of Washburn, Iowa; six great-grandchildren Taylor Granger, Tristin Granger, Jazmin Ely, McKanzie Ely, Vincent Law, and Max Law; four nieces Sandie Thomson, Janice Mullins, Ann Granger, and Jo Boyle; and a former daughter-in-law Diane Granger.

She is preceded in death by her husband Bill who passed away in 1991; her parents; her brothers Lester Reichel and Harold Reichel; a sister Margaret Becker and brother-in-law Robert Becker; and a nephew Craig Becker.
