OBITUARY.
Died, at his residence in Dover township, Fayette Co, Iowa, January 21, 1888. Mr. John Johnson, aged 70 years, 10 mos., and 16 days.

The subject of this sketch was born in Washington county, Penn., March 5, 1817, and at 20 years of age emigrated to Ohio where he was united in marriage with Miss Sarah Ann Tope, and in 1852 moved to Fayette county, Iowa, where he has resided until called away by death.

His union with Miss Sarah Ann Tope was blessed with seven children, -- one daughter and six boys- three having crossed the River of Death before him, leaving four children and an aged companion to mourn his departure.

Mr. Johnson was a kind husband and father and a good neighbor.

Funeral service was preached in the North Grove school house by Rev. O.S. Davis, pastor of the Wesleyan Methodist church at West Union.
