Velda M. Laidig, the daughter of Earl and Hazel (Sankey) Ditsworth was born on October 26, 1937 in Bancroft, Iowa. She died on Thursday, November 11, 2021 at the Good Samaritan Society in Estherville, Iowa at the age of 84.

She received her education and graduated from Graettinger, Iowa High School. On July 14, 1956, she was united in marriage to Ronald Laidig in Jackson, Minnesota. Velda was employed as a Nurse Aide for Rosewood Manor and Good Samaritan Society for many years. Velda enjoyed camping, walking, reading, and watching TV. Her favorite pastime was visiting and spending time with her grandkids and great grandkids. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Estherville. Velda had a special place in her heart for all animals, especially her dogs and cats.

Left to cherish Velda’s memory are her children, Ron Laidig Jr. (Karen) of Ceylon, Minnesota; Lonny Laidig of Estherville; Vicki Laidig of Estherville, and Lisa Heinrichs of Estherville; 12 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren; siblings, Wayne Ditsworth of Britt, Iowa; Charles (Gloria) Ditsworth of Okoboji, Iowa; and James Sevdy of Stillwater, Minnesota; and special friend Ron H.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Ron; sister Vera Bickford; grandson Cole Hamre; great-grandson Brandon; great-grandson Noah Milburn; and son-in-law Randy Heinrichs.

The funeral service was held Saturday, November 20, 2021 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Estherville with interment at East Side Cemetery, Estherville.
