John Joseph Skrepak 1954-2021

John Joseph Skrepak, was born on April 3, 1954 in Chicago, IL to Frank and Shirley (Klick) Skrepak. He passed away unexpectedly on June 8, 2021, at his home in Estherville, Iowa.

John graduated from Glenbard East High School in Chicago before working a variety of jobs, from Texaco, and Hopkins Chevrolet (with Frank Verri) to CJ Auto Parts, Entertainer, a booking agent for “The Inspectors”, Shonkwiler Construction, and AGCO. Most recently he worked for GKN and Erickson Trucking.

John married Dawn Lubben on July 8, 1984, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Chicago. Together, the couple raised five children: Tim, Heather, Holly, Dorothy, and Dawn.

In his free time, John enjoyed politics, woodworking, carpentry, motorcycles, playing a variety of instruments, drawing, writing, golf, auctions, Chinese food, comics, movies, records, and playing “Ticket to Ride.” Most importantly he enjoyed playing with his grandkids, teaching people how to fix things, and singing.

John is survived by his wife, Dawn Skrepak; his children, Tim (Tina) Skrepak, Heather Goodman, Holly (Jonny) Hansen, Dorothy (Justin) Stith, and Dawn R. Skrepak; his grandchildren, Austin (Melissa), Ashley, Avery, and Alijah Skrepak; Shauna and Allyson Goodman, Ashton Cable; Haizley and Dove Hansen; Natalie, Emma, Olivia, Ava, and Mollie Stith; Lucy Jarvis; his great grandchildren Samuel Skrepak and Mira Goodman; his mother Shirley Skrepak; and his sisters, Anne Visser and Denise (Jim) Verri.

He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Skrepak, his brother-in-law, David Visser, and numerous aunts and uncles.

A funeral service was held Saturday, June 12, 2021 at the Calvary Gospel Assembly Church in Estherville with interment at Oak Hill Cemetery, Estherville, Iowa.
