Byron T. Lindell 1958-2021

Bryon Todd Lindell, son of Gus and Bernice (Detert) Lindell, was born on June 25, 1958 in Alamogordo, New Mexico. He passed away, surrounded by his family at his home in rural Estherville,Iowa on March 24, 2021 at the age of 62 years.

Byron attended and graduated from Estherville High School. He then entered into the United States Air Force for the next four years. He was united in marriage to Michelle Brobst on May 8, 1982 at the United Methodist Church in Estherville. He graduated from Iowa Lakes Community College. Byron graduated from Mankato State with a Master’s Degree in Art Education. After graduation he stayed in Mankato and was an adjunct professor at Mankato State and worked construction. In 1997, Byron accepted a job at ILCC to be the Art Professor. The family moved back to Estherville, where they continue to reside.

Byron was an artist; he especially enjoyed painting and drawing. He could create great pieces out of nothing, which many are displayed throughout the area. He loved to spend time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren. Byron played guitar and liked listening to good classic rock music. Nights spent with his friends and family at the Wallingford Pub were some of his favorite times. He liked to boast his membership in the “Drunken Poet Society.”

Byron is survived by his wife of 38 years Shelley; his children Amber Hall, Aaron Lindell, and Ashley (Dalton) Woodyard all of Estherville; his grandchildren Logan Newhouse, Adrian Vaughn, Kyran Hall, Myla Hall, and one on the way. He is also survived by his mother Bernice Jensen of Estherville; his mother-in-law Donna Brobst of Estherville; and his siblings, Brenda (Steve) Frolik of Sherburn, Minnesota, Doyle Lindell of Spirit Lake,Iowa Danny (Billie Jo) Lindell of Estherville, Van (Lori) Lindell of New Market, Minnesota and Rod (Jolene) Lindell of West Des Moines, Iowa. Byron is also survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law Doug (Mary) Brobst of Lincoln, Nebraska, Dave Brobst of Mechanicsville, Iowa, Jeff Brobst of Tea, South Dakota, and Mike (Susan) Brobst, of Arvada, Colorado.

Byron is preceded in death by his dad Gus Lindell, step-father Glen Jensen, and his father-in-law Donald Brobst.

Private family services were held.
