Susan (Omundson) Von Bank-Wheeler 1950-2020

Susan Von Bank-Wheeler, daughter of James and Velma (Perkins) Omundson, was born on June 8, 1950 in Estherville, Iowa. She died on December 18, 2020 at Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake, Iowa at the age of 70 years.

Susan obtained her GED in Kansas City, Missouri and then trained with the job corps. She was united in marriage to Steve M. Von Bank. Steve passed away in 1977. Susan worked as an aide in daycare centers and nursing homes throughout her life. She married Russell Wheeler in 1986; the couple later divorced but remained friends.

She was a member of Grandview Baptist Church in Estherville, and also attended Estherville Lutheran Church. Susan enjoyed going to the beach, reading, singing and dancing.

Susan is survived by her daughter Genelle (David Wilde) Ver Meer of Leesbug, Virginia, her son Steven Von Bank of Estherville; her grandchildren Noah Bates and Destiny Ver Meer; and her special friend Don Dennart. She is also survived by her siblings Ronald (Eddie) Omundson and of Casa Grande, Arizona, and their children Damon, Todd, Joe, and Rhonda; John Omundson of Casa Grande, Arizona and their children Debbie, Kim, and Lisa; Richard (Irene) Omundson of Clinton, Indiana and their children Ricky, Randal, and Raydel; Sharon Omundson of Emmetsburg, Iowa, David (Marla) Omundson of Manteno, Illinois and his son Craig; Evelyn Bradshaw of Springfield, Illinois, James (Vicky) Omundson Jr. of Bondurant, Iowa and their children V.J and Brandy; and Peggy Oelkers of Fremont, Nebraska and her children Sean, Lori, and Ryan.

Susan is preceded in death by her parents James and Velma Omundson; her husbands, Steve Von Bank and Russell Wheeler. She was also preceded in death by her nephew Brett Bradshaw, a niece Diana Riese and a sister-in-law, Myrtle Omundson and a brother-in-law, Pat W. Omundson.

Services will be held at a later date. Interment at Armstrong Grove Cemetery, Armstrong, Iowa.
