Francis Michael Reynolds 1923-2020

Francis "Mike" Michael Reynolds, son of Ona and Frances (Maloney) Reynolds, was born on November 3, 1923 in Estherville, Iowa. He was a lifelong resident of Estherville and passed away at his home on October 21, 2020 at the age of 96 years.

Mike attended and graduated from Estherville High School. He enlisted into the United States Army on November 10, 1942; he spent much of his time in France and England during World War II. On January 31, 1946 he was honorably discharged and returned home to Estherville. He was united in marriage to Betty Jean Beaver at St. Patrick's Catholic Church on May 12, 1951. The couple made their home in Estherville, and had one daughter, Michele.

Mike was the Circulation Manager for the Des Moines Register in Estherville for many years. He was also self-employed as an insurance agent. He enjoyed fishing and looked forward to his yearly trip to Canada, along with many fishing outings in the local lakes area. Mike was a very active member of the ELKS Club, holding many positions in the organization, including Exalted Ruler. He also played cribbage there quite often with his fellow members. In his later years, he thoroughly enjoyed spending time in his garden, and sharing the vegetables from it. Mike loved the Estherville community and took great pride in it.

Mike is survived by his daughter Michele Reynolds and her husband Jim Stockton of Eden Prairie, Minnesota and his sister Colleen Paulson of Emmetsburg, Iowa. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Mike is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Betty Jean, his brothers Douglas and Barney Reynolds, and his sister MaryJo Goecke.

Visitation was held Monday, October 26, 2020 at the Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville. Interment at St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery in Estherville.
