Elmer Miner Succumbs to Heart Attack
Elmer Miner, 59, died at his home here yesterday of a heart attack. He has lived in this area since 1916 and is well-known here as both a farmer and insurance representative.

Born Sept. 25, 1899 at Kewanee, Ill., he was the son of Arthur and Mary Miner. He moved with his parents to a farm near Graettinger in 1916.

On Nov. 23, 1921 he was married to the former Lydia Luhman at Graettinger. The couple farmed in that community until 1941 when they moved to a farm northeast of Estherville. At that time he started selling insurance in addition to his farming.

In 1948 he moved to Estherville and was a full-time insurance representative until the time of his death.

His survivors include his widow, a son Eldon of Estherville and three grandsons. His mother, Mrs. Mary Miner of Estherville, and three sisters, Mrs. George (Virgie) Meiners of Gruver, Gladys Kruse of Estherville and Mrs. Edgar (Beulah) Kroupa of Stewartville, Minn. also survive.

Services for Mr. Miner will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Estherville First Methodist Church, the Rev. William R. Noland in charge. Sandin-Fuhrman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Friends may call at Sandin-Fuhrman’s from tomorrow evening until noon Monday when the body will be taken to the church to lie in state until time of services.

Mrs. Miner’s sister, Mrs. Ann McInstosh, died last Friday and funeral services were held Monday in Des Moines. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, February 27, 1959)
